Safe Sailing (A 2-Part Series)
Safety is the linchpin of fun sailing. And safety standards and methods evolve as new lessons are learned and new solutions are found. It is important that all sailors know and practice proven methods. This series of seminars is based‚ in part‚ on US Sailing’s Safety at Sea seminars‚ but has been adapted and narrowed for local situations and conditions by area experts.
This is a two-part program - one registration covers sessions on both Feb 6‚ 2025 and Feb 11‚ 2025.
Over two nights we will cover:
- Personal equipment - clothing‚ PFDs‚ tools‚ lights‚ knives‚ harnesses‚ tethers etc.
- Radio and other forms of communications
- Crew overboard locating and recovery
- Watching and responding to weather
- Heavy weather options/decisions
- Damage control and repair
- When and how to call for help
This program will be delivered as a panel discussion supported with curated clips‚ photographs and personal stories and will include ample time for questions and answers. Any area sailor is welcome.
